Pace Advantage Angle Using BETMIX

Pace Advantage Angle Using BETMIX

4. Is the qualifying pace horse fast enough?
We have determined that in this race Pace matters and we have found a horse with a big advantage within that Pace factor.  We are only going to use the horse if it is fast enough to win the race.  That is easy to determine.  We click on the SPEED category now so that we see all of the speed factors. We want to make sure that our Pace horse is one of the top 4 horses in the top ranked Speed Category.

You can see that within the top ranked Speed Category, #2 is ranked on top.  We now know that he is fast enough to use his pace advantage.  If the horse has a big pace advantage but is not fast enough to use it then the horse does not qualify in this angle. The #2 horse has passed the first 2 tests, the final test is to see if he has a competent trainer.

5. Is the trainer good enough?
This is the least important of the steps, but is often the difference between a qualifying horse hitting the board or winning the race.  We want to see that the horse is ranked within the top 4 in either Trainer Current Year or Trainer Current Meet. You want your horse to have the benefit of being handled by a trainer who knows where to put the horse.  If the trainer has a very low win% then that can raise a red flag that horse may not be spotted well or has not been prepared for the race.  He may have a pace advantage and be fast enough, but if the trainer has not demonstrated that he or she is capable then you probably don’t want to risk your money on the race unless you are getting very good odds.
