Meet the Dudes

The Racing Dudes are Jared Welch and Aaron Halterman, high school acquaintances who discovered a mutual love for horse racing. What began in 2012 as a weekly Oaklawn Park wagering guide has grown into an internationally-renowned must-read for handicappers of all experience levels. Like most fans, the Dudes didn’t catch horse racing fever until a visit to the track – Aaron the 2007 Arkansas Derby, Jared the 2009 Rebel – got them hooked. Since then, they’ve witnessed – and helped bettors profit on – some of racing’s biggest moments, including Zenyatta’s 19-race winning streak, American Pharoah’s historic Triple Crown in 2015, as well as Justify’s incredible Triple Crown in 2018.

JARED WELCH – A former marketing director, Jared is the “CEO Dude” who oversees the website’s design and functionality, as well as business development, marketing, promotion, and publicity, along with hosting the Blinkers Off podcast. He tends to handicap races using a straight form method, closely studying all of the trends, patterns, and tendencies.

AARON HALTERMAN – Also a marketing major, Aaron helped run his family’s sporting goods business before he became the “Research Dude.” He watches hundreds of races each day, which prepares him so that he can post FREE picks and write detailed previews on the big races. Aaron prefers analyzing jockey/trainer stats when handicapping races.
