Wearing blinkers for the first time proved the difference-maker for trainer Brad Cox’s Mandaloun, who took off in deep stretch to win the 2021 $400,000 Risen Star Stakes Presented by Lamarque Ford (G2) at Fair Grounds.
Mandaloun’s win was his first at the stakes level and brings the 3-year-old Into Mischief colt’s record to 4-3-0-1 with $351,252 earned. He’ll likely head to the Louisiana Derby (G2) for his next start.
