Massive Two-Day Pick Six Carryover into Saturday at Santa Anita, Pool Should Approach $2 Million

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2016)—A parade of longshots on Friday created a two-day Pick Six carryover into Saturday at Santa Anita of $307,069 and, according to track officials, Saturday’s total Pick Six pool should approach the $2 million mark.

With a carryover of $59,291 from Monday, $463,805 in “new money” was bet into the Friday Pick Six, creating a total pool of $523,096.

Friday’s Pick Six began with race three, and although it got off to a moderately formful beginning with second choice Perfect Set paying $8.40, post time chalk took a heavy beating thereafter.  Race four was taken by Midnight Lady, who paid $22.80 with Martin Pedroza up.  The fifth race went to 17-1 longshot Wishful Winking, who paid $36.60 with leading rider Santiago Gonzalez up.

Friday’s sixth event was won by Lets Get Frisky, who paid $20.40 with leading apprentice David Lopez in the irons, and race seven was won by Go Long, who rallied from off the pace under Kent Desormeaux and paid $13.60 to win.

Saturday’s Pick Six will start with race four and conclude with race nine.  With 64 horses currently scheduled to run, there are just over 10 horses per race in Saturday’s Pick Six sequence.

First post time for the nine-race card is at 12:30 p.m.  Admission gates open at 10:30 a.m.
