The Somobombs: Keeneland and Belmont Picks including the Belmont Late Pick 4 for October 15th, 2021

A couple close calls at Keeneland yesterday, but nothing to write home about. Today we are going to pick up the action from both Keeneland, Grid + Tickets, and Belmont, Grid-Only. At Keeneland, I’m going to press early and spread late to try to connect with a big number. Belmont looks chalky so I’ll be pressing my opinion there, especially early.

Race 6 – $90k MSW – 1 1/4M Turf

Pletcher and Ortiz should should get a nice, inside trip with #1 Mezcal so I’ll include her, but I’m worried they let #4 Blue Times walk on the front end and wire this field. I’ll add #6 Pruning to the ticket as well who keeps talking slight steps forward.

Race 7 – $100k Glen Cove – 7F Turf

The #3 Caldee and #7 Bay Storm faced each other last time and both need to be used here. I do think we can look for a couple prices so let’s add in the #1 Alwayz Late who needs more distance then the 5.5F two back and comes out of a tough Kentucky Downs race where she ran very well. I’ll add the #10 Por Que No as well on the cutback with Paco Lopez up. He will make sure the horse is forwardly placed and should have the stamina to stick around.

Race 8 – $80k N2X – 6.5F

A 5 horse field with three likely speed horses means that #4 Whispering Pines should absolutely trip out right behind the wall of speed and be able to pounce on the far turn so let’s single here.

Race 9 – $30k N2L Claiming – 7F Turf

We close this one out with an interesting turf sprint. I’ll start with #4 Count Down who adds blinkers and should get the lead. #5 Vodka Lemonade will be forwardly placed as well and all of his best races have come over this Belmont turf. Let’s close of the ticket with #9 Propensity and #12 Chrome Dixie.
