Free Pick: Washington 6-7 at Philadelphia 6-7 12/19/21

This is a game between two mediocre teams that still have legitimate shots at a wild card in the NFC. It’s the first game of two between the teams in the next four weeks. A sweep by either one of them, would probably propel them into the playoffs. The hype for the game has been hampered somewhat by the injury status of Washington quarterback, Taylor Heinicke. We probably won’t know for sure if he plays till close to game time. Here are the betting angles.

TOTAL TEAM POINTS:

Philadelphia: 24.5 Total Team Points Quarterback, Jalen Hurts missed the last Eagles’ game but most people think he is going to play. He has had a very good year and they need him healthy if they are going to win. Because of his ability to run the ball, the Eagles rushing offense will be a key to any success they might have. The Washington defense has been stingy against the run so that is a matchup to watch. Hurts will have to make some big plays through the airways if the Eagles can get to 25 points. I’ll take the Eagles UNDER 24.5 team points

Washington: 19.5 Total Team Points It looks like Vegas is expecting Heinicke to be on sidelines in street clothes for this game, but he practiced on Wednesday.. At this writing, we don’t know and that won’t be announced until right before game time. If he plays, I think they can reach this team total. Let’s assume he plays. I’ll take Washington OVER 19.5 team points.

OVER/UNDER: 44 Combined Team Points This point total is pretty much where it should be. I could see if going either way..No bet for me on this line

POINT SPREAD: Philadelphia is a 7-point favorite. I’m not sure the Eagles should ever be a 7-point favorite. However, in only one of their 6 wins, have they won by less than six. We want to bet Washington and the points, especially if Heinicke plays which looks promising.
