Free Pick: Cincinnati 7-6 at Denver 7-6 12/19/21

Talk about a huge game in the AFC race for the wild card in the playoffs, this is it. The winner of this game will still be in good shape for a playoff berth and the loser will be in trouble. Most people would agree that the Bengals are the better team, but they have lost two in a row, in pressure games that they needed to win. In other words, they can’t be trusted in games like this. However, the Broncos aren’t exactly money in the bank either. Let’s see if there is anything that is comfortable to bet.

TOTAL TEAM POINTS:

Denver: 21.5 Total Team Points The Broncos’ offense isn’t exactly high-flying. They are averaging 21 points and 345 yards per game. Quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater, doesn’t strike fear in opposing defensive coordinators preparations, but his stats (68% completion rate, 2,954 yards and 18 touchdowns), aren’t awful. The question is, will he be able to make a big play when they need it? The Bengals’ defense isn’t great but they have played well at times. I’ll take the Broncos UNDER 21.5 team points.

Cincinnati: 20.5 Total Team Points The Bengals are averaging 27 points per game behind the passing of Joe Burrow. He has thrown for 3,483 yards and 25 touchdowns. There is one negative in the fact that he has 14 interceptions. Joe Mixon is a 1,000 yard runner and he has had a good year. So, they have scoring potential to take into this game. The Denver defense is good and are allowing only 18 points and 325 yards of total offense. They played good enough to win last week. I like Cincinnati OVER 20.5 team points.

OVER/UNDER: 44 Combined Team Points This is another line that Vegas has set just about right. If forced to choose, I will take UNDER 44 combined points.

POINT SPREAD: Denver is a 2.5-point favorite I don’t like Denver in this game because I think they are the weakest of the 7-6 AFC teams that are in the hunt for the wild card spots. But, I don’t have any confidence in Cincinnati either. So, you know what that means. No bet for me on this spread.
