Belmont Park October 15, 2021

Race 6: Allowance for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the widener turf

#5 Catch That Party fits into this group seamlessly, as evidenced by his last three efforts. He has to be used given how proficient he’s looked at this level as of late. #10 Cotton comes out of the same race as Catch That Party, but he only finished 7th on that afternoon. I’m expecting a much better performance out of him this time around.

Race 7: $25,000 Claiming for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#3 More Graytful makes his first start since March, when he was running against much better. Coming off of a lengthy layoff like he is, I’m not surprised he’s in for a tag. #5 Gandy Dancing wasn’t very good last time out, albeit against much better competition. His race two starts back would be good enough to win here.

Race 8: Floral Park Stakes for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#6 Robin Sparkles got back to her winning ways, after not having won since June. She looks to be back on track, trending in the right direction once again. She’s finished first or second in all of her starts at Belmont Park as well. #9 Raven’s Cry has never gone this distance in the United States, making her somewhat of an interesting proposition. Look for her to break sharply out of the gate like she’s done in the past.

Race 9: Maiden Special Weight for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the widener turf

#11 Lilac Girl was extremely impressive on debut, closing ground with every stride. She will go one more furlong, but I think she has a chance to run off of the screen here. #12 Lady Valentine tries sprinting on the turf for the first time in her career. The only time she’s sprinted in the past was on the main track here at Belmont.
