Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park Picks for June 12, 2021

#RickysRockets🚀 is back at it on Saturday where we look to take down some smaller stakes across the country. It was always going to be tough to replicate Belmont Stakes day, but there are some nice cards on tap! Churchill Downs is back racing under the lights, giving horse racing a different feel with some night racing.

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Belmont Park, 11-race preview of Churchill Downs, 12-race preview of Gulfstream Park!

Best of luck!

Belmont Park June 12, 2021

Race 7: Allowance for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Entreat hasn’t been seen since last September when she won on debut, but she’s also untested at this level. Many of the other runners are stepping up in class, or have proven they are not capable of winning against a field like this. #2 Love and Love is one of the few that do make sense on paper, after finishing second at this level last time out. If nothing else, she does have some early speed which makes her a force to be reckoned with.

Race 8: Dancing Renee Stakes for New York-bred fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Fierce Lady earned her spot in this race after a dominating effort against Allowance Optional Claiming runners last time out. She may be a lot better in 2021 based on her lone race this year. #5 Sadie Lady competed in the Vagrancy Handicap (G3), which has much better horses than this field. This is the first time she’s facing state-bred competition since last November.

Race 9: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#10 Quarky will look to give Karl Broberg his first win of the meet, while he looks for his first win of the year. For as talented as he is, he should have more than four wins on his resume. #12 Duress ended last year with a bang, capturing his first win of the year. If he can make it two in a row, it would be Tom Albertrani’s first win of the meet.

Race 10: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the widener turf

#6 Barre is a complete unknown, but it won’t take much to beat this group. With every race under each of these competitors’ belts, their form looks worse and worse. #13 Freedom Machine looks to be the real deal as she draws into this race as an Also Eligible. She will need to break sharply from the gate due to her disadvantageous post position.
