Free Pick: Arkansas (4-1) at Mississippi (3-1) 10/9/21

Both of these teams are coming off disappointing performances on the national scene as they were demolished by Georgia and Alabama. Which one will shake off those defeats the best? The winner in this one will continue to enjoy a possible great season and the loser will be left searching for answers. Here are the matchups.

Quarterback: Ole Miss is led by Matt Corral who was rolling until he ran into Alabama last week. He is a dual threat, having passed for 1210 yards and 10 touchdowns and rushing for 226 with 6 more touchdowns. K.J. Jefferson had been playing at a high-level until the Arkansas offense was completely shut down by Georgia. He can hurt you running the ball, (235 yards) and has thrown 909 and six touchdowns. Advantage: Ole Miss

Running backs: The Rebels have Henry Parrish and Jerrion Ealy who have combined for 429 yards along with Corral. The Razorbacks will counter with Trelon Smith (62 carries for 302) and Raheim Sanders (37 for 185). Advantage: Arkansas

Receivers: Dontario Drummond has been the go-to guy for Corral as he has 24 catches for 382 yards and Jonathan Mingo is a good 2nd choice with 15 receptions for 290. The main target for the Hogs is Treylon Burks who has 22 catches for 383 yards. Tyson Morris is a deep threat as he has 8 receptions for 178. Advantage: Ole Miss

Defense: The Ole Miss defense has been better in 2021, but is still suspect. They are giving up 154 yards rushing per game and Arkansas will try to exploit that, as they want to run the ball. The Razorbacks are only giving up 129 yards passing per game and that will be tested by Matt Corral and the Rebels. Last week, Georgia gashed them for 272 yards rushing and that is a concern also. Advantage: Arkansas

This game should be a good one and will come down to a couple of things. Who will bounce back the best from last week’s loss? Can Arkansas control the clock with their rushing game? Can Matt Corral and the Ole Miss receivers handle the Arkansas pass defense? The Razorbacks have been played well against the Rebels in recent years winning 7 out of the last 11. Mississippi is a 6-point favorite.
