Souper Sensational Sweeps Away In Victory Ride

ELMONT, NY – Live Oak Plantation’s Souper Sensational looked exactly that as she swept away to a scintillating score in Saturday’s $150,000 Victory Ride Stakes (G3) at Belmont Park.

Pinched back as she broke from post 5 under Flavien Prat at 5/1 odds, Souper Sensational settled at the rear inside of the 3/2 favorite Australasia heading down the backstretch.

The 9/5 second choice Miss Brazil went to the lead and set pressured fractions of :22.81 and :45.68 inside of Ova Charged and Red Ghost.

Prat tipped Souper Sensational out in the far turn and sent her wide around rivals, putting the Mark Casse trainee in perfect position to sweep her way to the front once straightened for home.

Galloping strongly away from the competition, Souper Sensational crossed 3 1/4 lengths much the best while completing the 6 1/2-furlong fast dirt sprint in 1:15.79.

“She was traveling well, and when I got her in the clear, she really kicked on well,” Prat said. “It didn’t feel like we were going crazy fast. I thought she broke well. I bided my time and got off to a nice rhythm. In the end, she really responded.”

Ova Charged held second by 2 lengths over Inject who rallied for third by 2 1/2 lengths over Red Ghost.

Miss Brazil and an eased Australasia completed the order of finish.

Bella Sofia and Shop Girl scratched from the race restricted to 3-year-old fillies.

Souper Sensational’s win was her second at the stakes ranks following last October’s 7-furlong Glorious Song on Woodbine’s synthetic surface. The Curlin filly, purchased for $725,000 as a yearling, has now earned $247,203 to go with a 7-3-1-1 record.

Souper Sensational returned $13.80 to win, $6.80 to place, and $5.70 to show. Ova Charged brought back $7.30 to place and $6.30 to show. Inject paid $7.20 to show.
