Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Ellis Park and Gulfstream Park Picks for July 11, 2021

#RickysRockets🚀 made it four winning days in a row by cashing in the middle Pick 5 at Belmont Park for $857! We were also just one race away from sweeping the back half of the card as well. With the momentum in full swing, it’s time we cap off the weekend with one final push! This is the final race day we have without any racing from Saratoga as well! LET’S GET AFTER IT!

Also included below: my 9-race preview of Belmont Park, 8-race preview of Ellis Park, 9-race preview of Gulfstream Park!

Belmont Park July 11, 2021

Race 6: $100,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#5 Basin hasn’t been in the best of form lately, but does have a lot of class. This is a race he’s supposed to win if he has anything left in the tank. #7 Endorsed looked good earlier in the year, but never held his own in the Churchill Downs Stakes (G1). John Velazquez has been aboard in the past, and knows how to get the best out of him.

Race 7: Allowance for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Ruvies in Time is looking to get back to his best form in the earlier part of the year. She’s struggled against open competition in the past, probably the biggest reason she’s 8/1 on the morning line. #4 Bella Sofia was scratched out of the Victory Ride Stakes (G3) on Saturday, for this spot here. She deserves to be the overwhelming favorite given that move.

Race 8: River Memories Stakes for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 1 1/2 miles (12 furlongs) on the widener turf

#5 Virginia Joy ran pretty well in the New York Stakes (G2) on June 4, over a yielding course. Any sort of improvement from that race will put her in the winners circle. #6 Civil Union was fantastic in 2020, but hasn’t quite been the same this year. Her three graded-stakes events this year are much tougher than this non-graded stakes race.

Race 9: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#4 Tis a Pity is the horse to beat, if she can overcome the lengthy layoff. She took a while to get going in her debut, but the drop in class should help her immensely. #7 Curious Mind makes her first start since March 2020 at Will Rogers Downs. I have no clue why this filly is here, but Joel Rosario rides for Steve Asmussen. I’m not going to try and beat this duo in a weak field.
