Secret Passage stamped himself a definite contender for that race on Dec. 13 as he rallied from last to gain the advantage in mid-stretch before winning by two lengths. Owned by Pin Oak Stable of Versailles, Ky. and trained by Donnie Von Hemel, Secret Passage was ridden by Luis Quinonez. The 2-year-old colt by two-time Horse of the Year Curlin was last from the outset of the 1 mile-70 yard event, waiting to move midway through the second turn. Nearly 10 lengths behind the pace-setting Mr. N going up the backstretch, Secret Passage was roused by Quinonez as the field approached the quarter-mile pole. Forced to go five-wide off the turn, Secret Passage went around the field and caught Mr. N with 100 yards left. He crossed the finish line in 1:42.90 over a fast track. After being ignored in his career debut at 9-1 odds in October, Secret Passage was the betting favorite Thursday night at 4-5 odds paying $3.80 to win, $2.20 to place and $2.10 to show. Mr. N handled his first race going more than six furlongs well, paying $2.40 to place and $2.10 to show. Better Than Magic was third, a head behind the runner-up, paying $2.40 to show. Secret Passage was bred in Kentucky by Pin Oak Stud and is by Curlin from the Sky Classic mare Sweet Eloise. The second career win in as many attempts at Remington Park, both at one mile or more, was worth $21,120 to sun his total bankroll to $40,563. Remington Park racing continues Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13 & 14, starting at 7pm-Central. Friday night is the debut of the Pick 5 wager at Remington Park. The 50-cent minimum Pick 5 will begin in race one and challenges players to correctly pick the winner of the first five races on the program. Open for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the $250,000 Springboard Mile on Sunday, Dec. 13. Tracked by over 88,000 fans on Facebook and 6,700 Twitter followers, Remington Park is Oklahoma City’s only Racetrack & Casino and is located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District.
