Handicapping Racing Dudes Three Stars of the Week July 10, 2017 Handicapping Racing Dudes Three Stars of the Week July 10, 2017 By: Aaron Halterman twitterfacebooklinkedinemail Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article Belmont Park was the place to be on Saturday! While stakes racing filled cards around the country, it was “Big Sandy” that stole the show. The NYRA track hosted five graded stakes races and none of them disappointed. See who made our Three Stars of the Week from that loaded card: 1. Oscar Performance From Breeders’ Cup glory in November to Belmont Derby glory in July! Both Oscar Performance and New Money Honey pulled off Breeders’ Cup/Belmont Park doubles on Saturday. Oscar Performance did what he does best: go to the front and take the field wire to wire. Many thought that there would be too much pace pressure for him in this race (which is probably why he went off at odds of 5-1), but he simply repelled all challengers and ran away with it in the end. This talented horse will have several options next, but one would think that a trip to Saratoga or Arlington Park will be in the works. 2. New Money Honey The second Breeders’ Cup winner to win on this card was New Money Honey. Trainer Chad Brown had three stars entered in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks and none of them disappointed as they finished 1-2-3. New Money Honey was able to get the jump on her late-flying stablemates and held off Sistercharlie by a 1/2-length at the end. Where Brown decides to run these three nice fillies next is a mystery, but that’s a very good problem to have on his hands. 3. Mind Your Biscuits It must have been that Racing Dudes karma paying off for trainer Chad Summers and Mind Your Biscuits. Earlier in the week, Summers was a guest on our Blinkers Off Podcast, and on Saturday, his horse dominated the Grade 2 Belmont Sprint Championship by 3 1/2 lengths. The most impressive part? He was barely even asked to run while crushing the competition. He’s the number one sprinter in the country now and will be heading to the Grade 1 Forego Stakes at Saratoga next.
