Oxted’s victory came in his third start of the year and was his first since winning back-to-back sprints at Newmarket last June and July. The 5-year-old gelded son of Mayson cut back to 5 furlongs for the first time with aplomb, improving his record to 13-5-3-1 for co-owners Piper, Hirschfeld, Fish, and Collins.

Arecibo necked out American runner Extravagant Kid for third, while defending race champ Battaash set the pace before yielding to fourth late.

Keep Busy, Liberty Beach, King’s Lynn, Stone Of Destiny, Winter Power, Acklam Express, the American Maven, Ornate, Harry’s Bar, Que Amoro, Ubettabelieveit, and Glamorous Anna completed the order of finish.

Oxted returned $9 to win and $3.40 to place. Arecibo brought back $16.40 to place. Extravagant Kid paid $8.80 to place.
