We cashed the Late Pick 4 yesterday from Belmont for $1, but it didn’t quite pay for the day. Keeneland was all over the place and we just couldn’t string them together there. I’ll take another swing at Keeneland today where post position is going to be absolutely key today with some big fields with favorites who are hung outside.

Race 6 – Allowance – 1 1/8th Turf

In a race lacking speed, I’ll start out with a wire to wire threat in #8 Suki who should either make the lead or sit right behind #13 Charges Dropped who will have to use horse to get to the front early. I’m only going two deep here. I’ll add #1 Longpants Required who has tactical speed and should absolutely trip out here. The other logical horses to me (#10, #12, #13) are all hung wide and going to struggle to work out a trip.

Race 8 – Indian Summer Stakes – 5 1/2F Turf

This is the same situation as yesterday. It’s single or chuck and this time I’ll single #7 Averly Jane who is supposed to be better on the turf then the dirt. If that is correct, this one is going to blow this field away.

Race 10 – Bourbon Stakes – 1 1/16M Turf

Nothing like 14 two year olds going two turns on the turf. Trip will be as important as anything and this spells trouble for logical horses like #10, #12, and #14. I’ll start out with your inside speed, #4 Martini’nmoonshine who went from a very productive MSW on the dirt and then wired a field at Saratoga in his first turf effort. A logical step forward would make this one tough at 10-1. Next up is #5 Rocket One. This $600k son of Into Mischief has improved every start and looks to have unlimited talent that is just starting to be unlocked. I’ll close out the ticket with #2 Stolen Base who picks up Prat, has tactical speed, a solid post and could improve 2nd time on the turf.
