Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Saratoga Picks for August 4, 2021

Ricky’s Rockets🚀 kicks off a brand new week of horse racing, with a fantastic 10-race card from Saratoga on Wednesday afternoon! Last week was dominated by the sprinters, and this week will have a different theme. We have another Steeplechase race, and the Shine Again Stakes as the two feature races on the card!

Saratoga August 4, 2021

Race 7: Starter Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 5 1/2 furlongs on the Melon turf

#1 Montauk Daddy has the speed to be out front early on, but he tends to let go of it down the stretch. He will be a short price once again for Rob Atras. #3 Convection looks to get back to his winning ways, after breaking his winning streak in June. This should be an easier race than what he dealt with on that day.

Race 8: Shine Again Stakes for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Aunt Kat has been on a roll as of late, winning three straight races in dominant fashion for Bill Mott. This will be her first race without Lasix, but it’s tough to deny her talent on the track. #4 Casual hasn’t won since she ran at Oaklawn Park, but she’s held her own in three stakes races against Chub Wagon, Edgeway and Kimari.

Race 9: $100,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the inner turf

#1 En Wye Cee ran pretty well last time out over a yielding course in the Knickerbocker Stakes (G2) last year. LEt’s see how he fares in his first start off of the long layoff for Todd Pletcher. #7 Bodecream makes his first start at Saratoga since the Saranac Stakes (G3) last year. He’s in the best form of his life for Mike Maker.

Race 10: Starter Allowance for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the Melon turf

#2 Be Up should get a firm turf course for the first time in her career, which should help Luis Saez get her to the lead. #10 Ocean Air has two races on his resume that make her fit right in with this group. Irad Ortiz Jr. was aboard last time out when she finished second at this level.
