Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Gulfstream Park, Oaklawn Park Picks and Santa Anita Park Picks for March 7, 2021

This is arguably the best week #RickysRockets🚀 has ever had! We’ve cashed massive Pick 4’s and Pick 5’s every day dating back to the end of February. Saturday afternoon was no different, as we took advantage of some big fields and big purses! Luckily for us, there’s one more day to cap off what’s been an amazing week as we look to cash on MANDATORY PAYOUT DAY AT GULFSTREAM PARK! Action from Gulfstream, Oaklawn and Santa Anita are on tap on Sunday afternoon.

Also included below: my 11-race preview of Gulfstream Park, 9-race preview of Oaklawn Park and 9-race preview of Santa Anita.

Best of luck!

Gulfstream Park March 7, 2021

Race 8: $16,000 Claiming for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 5 furlongs on the turf

#2 Tony’s Rose won at the $16,000 level last time out, so I’m trying to understand why she comes into this race at 12/1 on the morning line. I don’t need anymore convincing in what I assume is a wide open affair. #11 Swirling Comedy has more talent than Tony’s Rose, but she’ll be breaking from the far outside, and is extremely inconsistent. Use as many horses as one sees fit here.

Race 9: $12,500 Allowance Optional Claiming for Florida-bred fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#3 Bimini is attractive because she has some tactical speed, and she was trained by Peter Walder for quite some time. She has finished in the money in both of her efforts this year, making her one of the more consistent in the field. #5 Tiz Possible Dear hasn’t been up to her best self in her most recent efforts. Paco Lopez was aboard some of her wins late in 2020, so hopefully she can get back to that form.

Race 10: $25,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 4-year-olds and upward going 5 furlongs on the turf

#10 Big Drink of Water makes the move to Carlos David’s barn after running for Larry Rival for the entirety of his career. Rivelli is a heck of a trainer, but so is Carlos David, making this barn switch a lateral one. #11 King Snake was scheduled for this spot on the turf, but the weather had alternate plans. Getting back to the turf makes him a sneaky play at 15/1.

Race 11: Maiden Special Weight for 3-year-old fillies going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Goodnight Olive is a first time starter for Chad Brown who comes into this race with a lot to like on paper. She’s by Ghostzapper who won 9/11 career races, and a Salty Strike mare who won 9/20 career races. Getting Irad Ortiz Jr. doesn’t hurt either. #2 Mischiefful was pretty good in her debut here at Gulfstream last month. Boston Post Road was good in the Any Limit Stakes at Gulfstream Park as well, who beat her in her debut. This filly could take a big step forward here.
