Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Del Mar, Gulfstream Park and Saratoga Picks for September 3, 2021

Saratoga September 3, 2021

Race 7: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the inner turf

#5 Principled Stand us undefeated coming into this race, and will look to keep that going. Irad Ortiz Jr. was aboard in his first race in New York. #10 FARMINGTON ROAD has been scratched! Now Using: #8 EMARAATY!

Race 8: Allowance for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Gold Panda didn’t take long to break his maiden, but that was over a sloppy track. It’s hard to know how horses will respond off of a race like that. #4 Big Bobby has faced some tough runners in his career, including River Dog and Judge N Jury. There’s no one in this race that can match the talent of those two horses.

Dr. Miranda previews the field for Saturday’s Del Mar Derby (G2), then gives her BEST BETS!

Race 9: Lucky Coin Stakes for 4-year-olds and upward going 5 1/2 furlongs on the Melon turf

#3 Noble Emotion has been strong this year, winning 2/3 races. His lone loss came last time out, when he held the lead into the final strides. Jose Ortiz picks up the mount for the fourth straight race. #8 Maven makes his return to the United States, after running at Ascot. He had won his final race at Keeneland before making his way overseas.

Race 10: Maiden Special Weight for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the inner turf

#8 Pruning has been strong in two straight races, but will be tested as she moves up in class. It’s still Maiden Special Weight competition, but Saratoga is much tougher than anywhere she’s been running. #9 Federalist Papers ships north for the first time. She makes her first start since March, when she was running at Tampa Bay Downs.
