Belmont Park July 5, 2021

Race 6: Grand Couturier Stakes for 4-year-olds and upward going 1 1/2 miles (12 furlongs) on the widener turf

#1 Red Knight has finished in the top two in 5/7 races in his career, including a second place finish last time out in the Louisville Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs in May. #5 Moon Over Miami has been SCRATCHED! WILL BE USING #6 GUFO!

Race 7: Allowance for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/4 miles (10 furlongs) on the inner turf

#1 Windfall Profit surely can’t be trusted after all the times she’s taken money and failed to win. She needs to be included, but isn’t reliable at all. #8 High Opinion has been pretty good this year, outside of her last race. She was put to a drive going four wide into the stretch on June 10 at this level.

Race 8: Dwyer Stakes (G3) for 3-year-olds going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#2 First Captain got a late start to his career, but he comes into this one undefeated for Shug McGaughey. Let’s see how he handles the stiffest test of his career to this point. #5 Snow House was scratched out of a race earlier this weekend for this very race. He comes into this one having won two in a row for Brad Cox, as he makes his Belmont and New York debut.

Race 9: $40,000 Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the widener turf

#8 Proper Grammer finds herself right in the middle of her Maiden Claiming race and the New York Stallion Series event she competed in last time out. This is the perfect spot to see where she really belongs. #9 Day’s Humor proved this is where she belongs after a big effort last time out. She deserves to be the morning-line favorite given how well she ran at this level.
