Belmont Park October 15, 2021

Race 7: $30,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Hoopla has never faced Claiming competition in the past. His race three starts back against Maiden Claiming competition, sets him up perfectly for this race. #6 Cousin Andrew finished fourth by less than two lengths, when he was running at the $40,000 level. Manny Franco picks up the mount for the second straight race.

Race 8: $30,000 Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#6 Freedom Machine takes her talents to Belmont Park for the first time, with the hopes of making her debut a winning one. Luis Saez was aboard when she faced Allowance runners at Saratoga over he summer. #7 Gabby Squared finally got the job done at 2/5 last time out at Monmouth. Now facing winners, she will look to win for the second straight race.

Race 9: Allowance for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Quantitativbreezin was never tested in her last race, winning by over 8 lengths. She’s going to be tested here, as #2 Esotica looks to bounce back in a big way. She was disappointing at this level last time out, but the trip was less than ideal Luis Saez was aboard when she was still looking for her maiden win in May.

Race 10: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the widener turf

#7 Escapewithfriends has an issue breaking out of the gate, as evidenced by her slow starts. The fact she’s only run four races, gives her some upside. #11 Phenomenal Woman ran a decent race at Gulfstream Park on debut, but that was back in January. The layoff and the drop in class could be tough to overcome, but she is getting Lasix for the first time as well.
