Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park Picks for May 22, 2021

#RickysRockets🚀 has been enjoying a nice run of winning days, including Thursday and Friday. On Friday, we brought back $234.60 on the late Pick 4 and $835.05 on the late Pick 5 at Churchill Downs! At Belmont Park, we wrapped up the day with a $496 Pick 5, to make it winning days at both tracks! Saturday afternoon isn’t the biggest one of all time, but there’s still plenty of money to be made! We are back at Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park, officially two weeks away from the Belmont Stakes!

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Belmont Park, 11-race preview of Churchill Downs, 12-race preview of Gulfstream Park!

Best of luck!

Belmont Park May 22, 2021

Race 7: $20,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the dirt

#3 Malibu Pro has been a very productive runner in his career, competing in 51 events finishing in the money in 27 of them. Hopefully he can continue the hot start to the meet for Robert Falcone Jr. #7 Heavy Roller needs to be included having won two races in a row. We don’t see that very often with these types of runners.

Race 8: Allowance for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#6 Trinni Luck steps into the Allowance ranks for the first time in her career after breaking her maiden last year. This isn’t an easy test for her at all, but a race that she can win if she’s able to take a step forward. #8 Bankers Daughter has to be considered the way she ran last time out. It won’t take much improvement from her to win the race.

Race 9: Seek Again Stakes for 4-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf

#5 Get Smokin was in over his head against some of the best older turf males in the country. This time around, he gets the chance to face runners that aren’t as good as those. #7 Decorated Invader finished second to Get Smokin in his last race at Belmont Park last October. These two look to be better on paper over the rest of the field.

Race 10: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#3 Lemon Taffy had every chance to win last time out finishing second over a muddy track at this level. This will be a good chance to see if what type of runner she is, assuming the race doesn’t get taken off of the turf. #9 Dancing Firefly is a first time starter, but I’m not sure experience helps her chances. On Timeform, she got a 100/100 for breeding for this class/condition/surface.
