Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park Picks for May 21, 2021

#RickysRockets🚀 has had the most success on Thursday afternoons, and this past Thursday didn’t disappoint. For the third straight Thursday, we cashed the FREE $3 Pick 4! Thursday afternoon brought home $511 in FREE tickets, and all we had to do was read the article. However, like we preach time and time again, we need to continue building on that momentum! We are back at the same three tracks again on Friday afternoon, hoping to repeat similar results on Thursday!

Also included below: my 9-race preview of Belmont Park, 9-race preview of Churchill Downs, 9-race preview of Gulfstream Park!

Best of luck!

Belmont Park May 21, 2021

Race 6: $50,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the widener turf

Mad Dog Racing Stable will love their chances in this race between two quality runners, #2 Carom and #2B Battalion. Carom looks to be the better of the two, but Battalion already won at this level in his final race of his 2020 campaign. #9 Vegas Kitten also won at this level, but that was at Santa Anita at the beginning of the year. This will be his first start since late January.

Race 7: Maiden Special Weight for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#5 Voice of Spring ran one of her best races last time out, when she got the chance to go 8 furlongs for the first time in her career. She is getting better and better with each and every start as well. #8 Highway Queen looked spectacular on debut last July, but she will have to overcome a lengthy layoff. Irad Ortiz Jr. should be aboard the favorite when they break from the gate.

Race 8: Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#4 Yes and Yes was spectacular last time out, but that was against Claiming runners. He hasn’t fared all that well at this level, but does have enough early speed to stay in contention early on. #7 Ahead of Plan ended his campaign on the dirt last year, a race he never should’ve been involved with. As he gets back to the turf, we should see the best of him in this spot.  In all of his turf starts in recent memory, he’s shown some speed out of the gate.

Race 9: $35,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the widener turf

#5 Not Phar Now moves over to George Weaver’s barn after running two races for Rob Atras. Before his last race, he was on a two-race win streak. We can chalk up his last race as a non-event since it was over a sloppy track at Aqueduct. #7 Tenure had one start at Santa Anita this year, part of Robert Falcone Jr.’s barn that he brought over to the west coast. As evidenced by his 44%, his barn has come back to Belmont raring and ready to go for this meet.
