Nay Lady Nay Conquers Mrs. Revere

LOUISVILLE, KY – Despite being dismissed as the “other” Chad Brown trainee in the event, Nay Lady Nay unleashed a strong turn of foot to get up in time and conquer Friday’s $300,000 Mrs. Revere Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs.

Breaking from post 2 under Junior Alvarado at 7/1 odds, Nay Lady Nay took back and settled along the inner hedge as part of the second half of the field. Up front, Hard Legacy posted opening fractions of :24.54, :50.25, and 1:16.42 while She’sonthewarpath and Amandrea chased closest to her.

Racing a lane off the rail as she entered the far turn, Nay Lady Nay remained patiently held in place as she gradually tipped out through the turn. Emerging onto the stretch still with work to do, Nay Lady Nay found her best footing inside the final furlong and began surging between new leaders Dalika and The Mackem Bullet.

Slicing her way to the front late, Nay Lady Nay charged across the wire first by a 1/2-length in a final time of 1:48.52 for the 1 1/16-mile event over the yielding turf course.

“Anytime you ride a horse for Chad Brown, you know it’ll be ready to roll,” Alvarado said. “She broke very good and had a nice kick at the end. She got over the going very well and had a nice kick at the end to get us home.”

Though unable to hold off the winner in the stretch, Dalika was able to clear away from The Mackem Bullet to take second by 1 1/2 lengths. Hard Legacy weakened in the stretch but still held fourth by a 1/2-length over Winning Envelope, with She’sonthewarpath a length behind her in sixth.

The 2/1 favorite New and Improved, Brown’s other runner, was unable to display the same turn of foot as her winning stablemate before finishing seventh under Joel Rosario.

“I don’t think she really got over the surface well,” Rosario said. “She never was able to pick up her stride.”

Delta’s KingdomJulia’s ReadyWildlifeProud Emma, and an empty Amandrea completed the order of finish.

Nay Lady Nay’s win was her second straight following the Parx Fall Oaks on October 7 and improved her record to 5-3-1-0. The 3-year-old daughter of No Nay Never, purchased for $210,000 as a juvenile, has now earned $265,180 for co-owners First Row Partners and Hidden Brook Farm.

Winner returned $ to win, $ to place, and $ to show. Place brought back $ to place and $ to show, while Show paid $ to show.
