The Jaipur is a 6-furlong turf sprint open to all horses ages 3 and up (regardless of gender) that’s part of the Belmont Stakes (G1) undercard. The race is a Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” for the Turf Sprint, awarding the winner with a fees-waived berth into the year-end World Championships. Find Out Why Spendthrift Farm purchased Got Stormy last November for $2.75 million but opted to keep her in training with Mark Casse, who first took over duties following her second career start in 2018. Spendthrift Farm later leased partial racing ownership rights to its partner MyRacehorse, a company that sells microshares to the general public. Got Stormy kicked off her 6-year-old campaign coming out on top of a four-horse photo finish in the 1-mile Honey Fox Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park but could do no better than fifth last time out in the Churchill Distaff Turf Mile Stakes (G2). Cutting back to a one-turn sprint will likely benefit the daughter of Get Stormy, who won a pair of turf sprint stakes last fall en route to a respectable fifth-place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1). “We’re going to try it and see,” Casse told NYRA’s media department. “She came out of her last race well. It was a bit of a head-scratcher, but she’s done that before and rebounded, so we’ll see.” Got Stormy set a new course record at Saratoga in 2019 when she defeated males in the 1-mile Fourstardave Handicap (G1) on just one week’s rest. Her career record to date is 28-11-5-3 (including 9 stakes scores, 7 graded) along with $2,111,403 earned.
