Fantasy Stakes Contender Spotlight: British Idiom

HOT SPRINGS, AR – Madaket Stables, Michael Dubb, and The Elkstone Group’s British Idiom will try to right the ship and get back to her winning ways in Friday’s $400,000 Fantasy Stakes (G3) at Oaklawn Park.

British Idiom began her career with a big bang, breaking her maiden on debut at Saratoga before trouncing her rivals in the Alcibiades Stakes (G1) at Keeneland. She finished 2019 with a hard-fought neck victory in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) en route to being voted the Eclipse Award Champion 2 Year Old Filly.

Given a brief respite in the winter, British Idiom returned to finish second in February’s Rachel Alexandra Stakes (G2) at Fair Grounds. Javier Castellano is flying into town to ride the Brad Cox pupil hoping to further a successful jockey/trainer combination that has produced a 22% strike rate with a positive ROI ($2.07) since 2019.

The Fantasy is a Kentucky Oaks (G1) prep race awarding a total of 170 points to the top four finishers. The winner will receive 100 points, with 40 going to second, 20 to third, and 10 to fourth.
