HOT SPRINGS, AR – Rockingham Ranch’s Wrecking Crew will make his sixth straight start against graded stakes foes in Saturday’s 1st division of the $500,000 Arkansas Derby (G1) at Oaklawn Park.
Wrecking Crew broke his maiden on debut at Del Mar, then wheeled back two weeks later to finish a closing second in the Best Pal Stakes (G2). Another second in the Del Mar Futurity (G1) preceded a third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) and a fourth in the Los Alamitos Futurity (G2).
Trainer Peter Miller gave Wrecking Crew a brief respite before making his 2020 debut in the San Felipe Stakes (G2), where he finished fifth after weakening in the stretch. The 3-year-old Sky Kingdom ridgling returned to the worktab and fired a pair of 6-furlong bullets in anticipation of this event, and top California jockey Flavien Prat is flying in for the ride.
