Fantasy Stakes Contender Spotlight: Swiss Skydiver

HOT SPRINGS, AR – Peter Callahan’s Swiss Skydiver will attempt to make it two in a row Friday when she takes on a strong field in the $400,000 Fantasy Stakes (G3) at Oaklawn Park.

Swiss Skydiver won her debut, a 7-furlong sprint against open maidens at Churchill Downs on November 16, then overcame a slow beginning to just miss two weeks later in the slop. A narrow defeat in the Gasparilla Stakes preceded a third in Rachel Alexandra Stakes (G2), but she turned the tables last time out and wired a field of 12 to win the Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2).

Trainer Kenny McPeek has kept Swiss Skydiver training at Gulfstream Park and will ship her to Hot Springs the week of the Fantasy. Joining her in her trek is Brian Hernandez, Jr., who has ridden 28 winners for McPeek since the beginning of 2019 and was aboard the Daredevil filly in the Rachel Alexandra.

The Fantasy is a Kentucky Oaks (G1) prep race awarding a total of 170 points to the top four finishers. The winner will receive 100 points, with 40 going to second, 20 to third, and 10 to fourth.
