Fantasy Stakes Contender Spotlight: Ice Princess

HOT SPRINGS, AR – Flying P Stable, R. A. Hill Stable, and Corms Racing Stable’s Ice Princess will take another shot at graded stakes success Friday in the $400,000 Fantasy Stakes (G3) at Oaklawn Park.

Debuting in an off-turf maiden special weight on September 6, Ice Princess defeated fellow New York-breds by 12 lengths in the slop. Trainer Danny Gargan saw fit to send her to face open company in the Frizette Stakes (G1) next time out, but she finished fourth, beaten over 7 lengths, in her final 2019 appearance.

Ice Princess is undefeated from a pair of 2020 starts, both against state-bred rivals, including a 2 1/2-length score in the Maddie May Stakes. The daughter of Palace Malice will be covering two turns and 1 1/16 miles for the first time since her debut – if she stays in the field. She is cross-entered in the $80,000 Gardenia Stakes (also for 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles) one race prior on Friday’s card.

The Fantasy is a Kentucky Oaks (G1) prep race awarding a total of 170 points to the top four finishers. The winner will receive 100 points, with 40 going to second, 20 to third, and 10 to fourth.
