Wholebodemeister Bombs Davona Dale

Wholebodemeister broke alertly from the rail under Edgard Zayas and shot to the lead, where she challenged inside of Adios Trippi down the backstretch before slowly advancing while cornering.

Holding a clear lead at the top of the stretch, Wholebodemeister drew off powerfully, leaving everyone in her dust. The Juan Avila trainee crossed 6 1/2 growing lengths clear in 1:36.89 hand-timed.

Continuing the parade of high-odds finishers came Crazy Beautiful (9/1), Competitive Speed (53/1), and Pens Street (84/1) to pay $572.60 for a $1 exacta, $2,531.25 for a $0.50 trifecta, and $14,039.92 for the $0.10 superfecta.

Curlin’s Catch, Millefeuille, Three Tipsy Chix, and the disappointing 1/2 favorite Vequist (making her first start since winning the 2020 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies [G1]) completed the order of finish.

Hindsight and Lady Traveler were scratched.

The Davona Dale is part of the Road to the 2021 Kentucky Oaks prep race season. Wholebodemeister earned 50 points for the win, with Crazy Beautiful receiving 20 for second, Competitive Speed 10 for third, and Pens Street 5 for fourth.

Wholebodemeister’s win was her first in a stakes and improved her overall record to 7-3-0-1. The Bodemeister filly has bankrolled $175,922 to date.

Wholebodemeister returned $107.60 to win, $32.20 to place, and $13.60 to show. Crazy Beautiful brought back $9.40 to place and $6.60 to show. Competitive Speed paid $17.40 to show.
