The Somobombs: Full Belmont and Keeneland Picks for October including the Turf Pick 3 from Keeneland

It was nice to have Keeneland back and hit the Late Pick 4, although it was pretty frustrating to nail the 8-1 single in the turf Pick 3 and not cash the bet. The bet itself was a huge success with a return of over $500 for a very, very hittable sequence! I’ve got both Belmont and Keeneland full grid and tickets today available today covering all of the big time stakes races and sequences. We’ve got a lot of uniquely placed Pick 4’s and Pick 5’s including the All-Stakes Pick 4 and 5 from Keeneland and the mid-card Pick 5 from Belmont!

Also included below:

Race 6 – The Woodford – 5 1/2F Turf

This race is all about how you feel about #2 Golden Pal. It’s a classic single or pass situation. If you use Golden Pal and someone else you are playing a ticket that will be tough to win with long term. For me, he’s a chuck. I simply like #6 Extravagent Kid more. He’s showed well overseas and returns now in form. He also gets pace to sit directly behind in the form of Golden Pal and #4 Firecrow. I’ll use Firecrow who should give Golden Pal a fight on the front end.

Race 8 – The First Lady – 1M Turf

I see this as a two horse race, #3 Althiqa is the best horse in the field and has not down anything wrong since coming to the states and is probably running at her best distance today. I’d be singling Althiqa if it were not for the obvious lone speed, #9 Blowout. No one else has close to the early foot she has and she will be loose. As always, it’s a question if Blowout can finish the job, but with such a large pace advantage, I’ve got to include her.

Race 10 – The Keeneland Turf Mile – 1M Turf

This race is tough. There is quite a bit so speed signed on so I am going to play a couple from off the pace. Last year’s winner, #6 Ivar, returns this year to defend the crown and is very, very live. I’m a fan of Pualo Lobo, an under the radar trainer, who knows how to have turf horses like this ready. I also like the addition of blinkers which Ivar has run well with in the past. Right to his outside, #7 Pixelate comes in on the improve as a four year old. There seems to be more upside here and if that comes out today, this field could be in trouble. Last on the ticket will be #11 Diamond Oops who I think may trip out here. He’s got tactical speed to sit right behind a pumped up pace and get first run.
