The Somobombs: Belmont Park Plays for October 7th, 2021 including the Late Pick 4

We are kicking off the new week with some action from Belmont Park before ramping up into the weekend which features the final Win and You’re In races for the Breeder’s Cup and the Keeneland Fall Meet! One thing I’m excited for this weekend is the debut of the Turf Pick 3 from Keeneland which is a 15% take-out, $3 base Pick 3 that covers the final three turf races on the card. There should be some outstanding value when you combine the field sizes with the low takeout and high base wager and I can’t wait to see what the payouts will be like.

Race 6 – $40k Claiming – 1M Turf

The favorite, #8 Tizzarunner, makes a ton a sense in this spot with the slight drop in class, tactical speed and record at the distance. Since I like the favorite, I’m only adding one more here and that’s the #3 Forever Mo who has upside first off the layoff and is facing much, much weaker today.

Race 7 – $25k Claiming – 6.5F Dirt

This race is wide open and full of speed so let’s kick it off with #1 My Roxy Girl who has won from off the pace over this track at this distance. #3 Saratoga Beauty has been claimed 4 straight and has taken a step forward every race. This is a horse who is on the upswing and I am expecting to be running late. Let’s include the #7 Awesome India as well who’s 2 for 2 at Belmont and 2 for 3 at the distance.

Race 8 – $45k State-bred OC N2X – 6F Dirt

Let’s go price hunting! I’ll take the #9 Prairie Fire on top who gets a massive drop in class on the switch to the Noda barn. In her last three she lost to Sadie Lady, Chub Wagon and Miss Brazil, all in open company. Getting back to New York breds should help a form reversal. I’ll include the #2 Honey Money who is 2 for 3 at Belmont, 2 for 6 at the distance and is your inside speed. Let’s add #10 Irish Connection who gets back to the fast going today, is lightly raced leaving room for improvement and is 2nd off the layoff.

Race 9 – $40k Maiden Claiming – 1M Turf

While #5 Bella Principessa is closing in on the lifelong maiden status, I’ll give her one more shot here since there are real excuses two back and she got beat by an improving horse last out. I like #3 Frosted Bourbon at 10-1 who is dropping in class and returning to the turf. Both trips were less then ideal in productive races verse better. I’ll close out the ticket with #7 Spill the Tea and #6 Spun for Lu Lu.
