Free Pick: Oklahoma State (7-1) at West Virginia (4-4) 11/6/21

The Cowboys invade West Virginia needing a win to stay in the race for a berth in the Big-12 Conference Championship game. The Mountaineers dealt Iowa State a big blow last week, upsetting them 38-31. Morgantown is a tough place to play when you need a big win. Let’s look at what is best to bet.

TOTAL TEAM POINTS:

Oklahoma State: 25.5 Total Team Points OSU hasn’t been the offensive juggernaut like some of their teams in past seasons. They are averaging 29 points per game and that total was aided by the 55 they put up last week against Kansas. They like to run the ball with Jaylen Warren and Spencer Sanders and stopping their run game is a big key to beating them. West Virginia has been good with their rush defense and that will be an important matchup. Overall, the Mountaineers are holding opponents to 23 points per game, but Baylor hit them for 45, Maryland for 30, and Iowa State 31 last week. I like Oklahoma State OVER 25.5 team points.

West Virginia: 23.5 Total Team Points The Mountaineers are averaging 30 points per game but that includes the 66 they scored against Long Island. Without that game, they are averaging only 24 points. The good news is, they have played much better the last two weeks. They are throwing for 278 yards per game and they need to have a good game through the air. The Oklahoma State defense is one of the best in the country allowing 295 total yards per game. They haven’t allowed more than 24 points in any game this year. I would take West Virginia UNDER 23.5 team points.

OVER/UNDER: 49 Total Combined Team Points This is another line that is pretty much dead-on. I can see it being 28-24 or 24-20.

POINT SPREAD: Oklahoma State -3 Vegas hasn’t shown much respect for the Cowboys all year long. They were seven point underdogs at Iowa State a couple of weeks ago, despite being in the Top-10. In this game, they come in at No.11 and are only favored by 3 against a 4-4 team. In the past, they have faltered in similar situations and proved the oddsmakers right. But, they are playing a ball-control offensive style, and have a dominant defense.
