Free NCAA College Basketball Picks For 2/27/22

We don’t call it Survival Saturday for nothing as seven Top-10 teams lost including numbers 1-6. There is so much parity that March Madness is going to be impossible to pick and there are a bunch of teams that can win it all. It is what college basketball is all about. Aren’t you glad we are along for the ride?

I guess I’m going to have to become a believer in Boise State. I keep selecting them to lose as my Best Bet and they keep winning, They went into UNLV and knocked off the Runnin’ Rebels 86-76 to beat me again. I’ve learned my lesson. Stay away from Boise State. Our Best Bet of the Day is now 42-27 since January 1st.

We had a good day betting the MoneyLine and ended up going 23-6. Our record now stands at 537-119 (82%) for 2022.

There were fifteen games involving Top-25 teams and they were nearly impossible to decipher, especially when you add in all of the upsets. We went 10-5 picking the winners but only 7-8 betting the spread. That lowered our record to 77-61 betting the spread on Top 25 teams.

Finally, we hit another parlay as North Texas, UTEP, and Colorado State came through for us and turned our $15 wager into an easy $75.

Fortunately, the schedule loosens up a bit today but there are still 4 games involving Top-25 teams and a handful of others. Let’s close out the week on a high note.

Papa Dudes Best Bet for College Basketball Today

Tulane 12-12 at Temple 15-11 (-2.5): I like Temple in this one at home. Tulane is a decent team but they aren’t as good on the road as they are in New Orleans. The Owls aren’t bad and they have good wins against Cincinnati and SMU on the home floor. If they are ready and can bounce back from a tough loss at Memphis, they should cover a soft spread. PAPA DUDES BEST BET: Temple -2.5

GAMES INVOLVING TOP-25 TEAMS:

#21 UConn 20-7 (-11) at Georgetown 6-21: This battle in the Big East should be an easy win for the Huskies, but it is on the road and they might overlook this bad team. The Hoyas are having a miserable year and they are in a league where you better be competitive and they aren’t. I never like road teams favored by double digits, but I’m staying with UConn. PAPA DUDES PICK: UConn -11

SMU 20-6 at #14 Houston 23-4 (-10.5) 23-5: SMU beat the Cougars in Dallas three weeks ago 85-83 and they have won 20 games. Should they be a 10.5 point underdog? That’s our dilemma in betting this one. I think Houston wins and they might cover but that spread is pretty large. Take my advice and stay away from this one and just enjoy it. PAPA DUDES PICK: Houston -10.5

#15 Illinois 19-8 at Michigan 15-11: This is a pick-em game and in my opinion it is an easy game to bet. Just take the team you think is going to win and if you are right you cash. The problem is; who in the Hell is going to win? The Illini lost a tough one at home against Ohio State a couple of nights ago, where they fell way behind, before staging a great rally only to lose by three. How much did that take out of them, and can they recover against a talented but inconsistent Michigan team? Your guess is as good as mine. PAPA DUDES PICK: Michigan Pick-em

#22 Ohio State 18-7 (-4) at Maryland 13-15: I’ll say it upfront; I can’t win with Ohio State. They have beaten me repeatedly throughout the year, so I’m not very reliable in predicting them. Logic says, they should beat the Terps and cover this very soft spread. But logic and Ohio State don’t go together. PAPA DUDES PICK: Ohio State -4
