These tournament games are brutal and it is tedious sweating out the ones you have money on. Records and past results mean very little and that’s what makes it so exciting.

We barely eked out another Best Bet and raised our Best Bet of the Day record to 49-31 since January 1st.

We only bet on 14 games and finished 11-3 betting the MoneyLine. Our record now stands at 609-132 (82%) for 2022.

There weren’t any games involving Top-25 teams. Our record betting the spread on games involving Top-25 teams stays at 96-70.

Papa Dudes Best Bet for College Basketball Today

Mississippi State 17-14 (-4) vs. South Carolina 18-12: This quarterfinal matchup features two teams that are evenly matched. The Gamecocks are the 7-seed and they are coming into the tournament having won 5 of their last seven games. On the other hand, the Bulldogs lost 7 of their last 10. I think South Carolina finds a way to win this one and it is worth a shot to take them in a slight upset. PAPA DUDES BEST BET: South Carolina +4

GAMES INVOLVING TOP-25 TEAMS:

Syracuse 16-16 vs. #7 Duke 26-5 (-14.5): Syracuse is a team no one wants to play in the postseason. But this Orange team is just an average bunch as their record would indicate. Duke blew them out a couple of weeks ago in Syracuse. I can’t see Duke losing this game but that spread is worrisome. I’m taking Duke to win but fail to cover PAPA DUDES PICK: Syracuse +14.5

Butler 14-18 vs. #11 Providence 24-4 (-7.5): On paper this looks like a mismatch, but it won’t be and the line shows what oddsmakers think. Most Big East games are tight and Butler will bring everything they have to this game. I’m a little worried about Providence as they have been idle since their March 1st lost at Villanova. They will either be energetic and have fresh legs or be a little rusty from inactivity. I can see an upset possibility but I think the Friars pull away at the end and cover. PAPA DUDES PICK: Providence -7.5

TCU 19-11 vs. #22 Texas 21-10 (-5.5): Both of these teams seem to be in the NCAA Tournament although TCU can’t be totally safe. Texas is a good team but they are capable of playing some sloppy basketball. TCU will hang around in this one and I think they have a chance to pull off an upset. I’m not sure they win but I think they can beat the spread. PAPA DUDES PICK: TCU +5.5

Northwestern 15-15 vs. #24 Iowa 22-8 (-7.5): The Wildcats are coming off a great comeback victory yesterday against Nebraska to get to this game. Sometimes, it is an advantage to have a game under your belt and Northwestern might come out firing, before the Hawkeyes can get their bearings. Iowa has made a great run in the last three weeks and are safely in the NCAA tournament. I think this will be a tight one and the Hawkeyes better be ready. PAPA DUDES PICK: Iowa -7.5

Stanford 16-15 vs. #2 Arizona 28-3 (-15): The Cardinal pulled off a miracle yesterday as they stole a game from Arizona State. Now they take on Arizona which is a whole different animal. The only thing to look at on this one is the spread. In a conference tournament, fifteen points is a lot to cover but I am reluctantly going to pick them to cover. It’s not going to affect my bankroll because I’m not betting this one. PAPA DUDES PICK: Arizona -15

West Virginia 16-16 vs. #6 Kansas 25-6 (-9) : Kansas is playing what amounts to a home game, in this one against West Virginia, who beat K-State yesterday. These first games in the tournament can be tricky as we saw last night several times. The Jayhawks are good, but I don’t think they are great and they should cover this reasonable spread. Look for WV to play it close for most of the game before faltering late. PAPA DUDES PICK: Kansas -9

Oklahoma 17-14 vs. #3 Baylor 26-5 (-8.5): This line looks about right to me. Oklahoma will play their tails off and hang around for a half or so, but they just don’t have enough offense to beat Baylor. The Bears are playing very well and still have a good shot at a #1 seed. PAPA DUDES PICK: Baylor -8.5

St.John’s 17-14 vs. #11 Villanova 23-7 (-6): Villanova has been playing well down the stretch and take on a St.John’s team that can put some points on the board. I don’t think the Red Storm is physical enough to take down the Wildcats and make a run in this hard-nosed league. They will give it a good shot but Villanova should cover this soft line. PAPA DUDES PICK: Villanova -6

Washington State 19-13 vs. #13 UCLA 23-6 (-7): Washington State comes into this one trying to get to 20 wins and I would bet not many people know that. They are a decent team and they have a chance against the Bruins, who at times, has trouble scoring. This is another one that will be close until UCLA pulls away late. PAPA DUDES PICK: UCLA -7

Utah State 18-14 vs. #24 Colorado State 24-4 (-2): Can you say upset? This might be the best shot at hitting a surprise pick tonight. Utah State is good enough to win this game in the very competitive Mountain West. Colorado State is the better team and I like the small spread. PAPA DUDES PICK: Colorado State -2

Iowa State 20-11 at #14 Texas Tech 23-8 (-7.5): Iowa State will have a lot of crowd support in KC and they are tough to beat if they are making shots. The problem is there are too many times when they struggle. I like Tech a lot but they don’t blow teams out very often. I think the Red Raiders win but don’t cover. PAPA DUDES PICK: Iowa State +7.

Seton Hall 21-9 vs. #20 UConn 22-8 (-4): Seton Hall is lucky that they are even playing this game, after last night’s narrow win over lowly Georgetown. You can bet they will play much better tonight. Vegas thinks so too when you see the line. This will be a knockdown dragout game that will go down to the wire like most Big East games do. I think the Huskies are a tad better and will pull out a cover. PAPA DUDES PICK: UConn -4

Virginia 19-12 vs. #25 North Carolina 23-8 (-3.5): The Tar Heels better be ready for this game because Virginia is dangerous. The Cavaliers are not near as good as they have been, but with their slow tempo, if they are hitting shots they can frustrate the hell out of teams. This is a good game to pick as an upset and maybe add to a parlay to give it some value. I’m sticking with the Heels but not betting anything. PAPA DUDES PICK: North Carolina -3.5

Washington 17-14 at #21 USC 25-6 (-5): The Trojans are never favored by a large margin because they play a lot of close games. I like this spread and if they are hitting some shots I think they can cover fairly easily. PAPA DUDES PICK: USC -5
