NCAAB Dudes Update on the NCAA Tournament Bids as of 2/6/22 February 7, 2022 Mary Langenfeld-USA TODAY Sports NCAAB Dudes Update on the NCAA Tournament Bids as of 2/6/22 February 7, 2022 By: Mike Halterman email Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article We are heading down the backstretch and games are taking on added significance with concern for making the NCAA tournament. Let’s see how the DUDES rank the teams still in the running.LOCKS TO GET IN: There are 48 slots taken (as of 2/6/22): Houston DavidsonDuke Wake ForestKansas TexasTexas TechBaylorProvidenceVillanovaMarquetteUConnXavierPurdueMichigan StateOhio State WisconsinIllinoisArizona UCLAUSCAuburnKentuckyTennesseeArkansasGonzaga St.Mary’sASUN Conference ChampAmerican East ChampBig Sky ChampBig South ChampBig West ChampCAA ChampC-USA ChampHorizon ChampIvy ChampMAAC ChampMEAC ChampMIssouri Valley ChampMountain West ChampNortheast ChampOVC ChampPatriot ChampSouthern ChampSouthland ChampSWAC ChampSummit ChampWac ChampALMOST A LOCK: There are 8 teams that need a little more padding to the resume, but look safe as of now.Iowa State- 16-7 The Cyclones are fading fast and need to rebound with a couple of wins this weekNorth Carolina- 16-7 The Tar Heels will get in if they get to 20 wins.Notre Dame- 16-7 Same can be said for the Irish. 20 wins and they are in.Seton Hall- 14-7 The Hall has a little work left to do.Indiana- 16-6 The Hoosiers are in if they don’t implode.Oregon- 15-7 The Ducks are in if they can avoid upsets and win the games they are supposed too.LSU- 16-7 The Tigers are in a big slump and need to snap out of it.Alabama- 14-9 The Crimson Tide has some good wins and need to finish strong to secure a slot.FIGHTING FOR THE LAST 12 SPOTS:ATLANTIC-10- It would appear as of now that if Davidson keeps winning they will receive a bid even if they don’t win the conference tournament. One or even 2 of the following teams could receive bids:Dayton 15-8VCU 14-7St.Louis 16-6BIG-12- There are 5 locks from this conference and one almost a certainty.TCU 15-5 The Horned Frogs are 4-4 in the conference. A 9-9 record would probably be enough to get in.ACC- It’s a down year for the conference but they have 2 teams that are locks and 2 more that are almost in. Could probably get 1 more bid.Virginia 14-9 The Cavaliers have the reputation and with a strong closing next few weeks have a chance.Miami 16-6 The Hurricanes’ chances were severely damaged by two losses this week. They have to recover fast.BIG TEN- The Conference has 5 teams that are locks and Indiana is close.Michigan 11-9 The Wolverines has tradition and name recognition on their side, but their chance depend on a big surge starting now.Iowa 15-7. If the Hawkeyes can knock off a couple of Big Ten heavyweights down the stretch they should get in.MOUNTAIN WEST- This league could really mess up things for the major conference bids. It is a strong league with 4 or 5 teams that are very solid. They might just get one bid, but they deserve at least 2 and maybe 3.Boise State 18-5Wyoming 19-3Colorado State 17-3Fresno State 16-7MISSOURI VALLEY- This league should only get one bid, unless Loyola fails to win the tournament championship. They might get in on reputation as an at-large.Loyola Chicago 18-4Missouri State 17-7SEC- This powerhouse league has 4 locks and 2 more that almost certainties. They could get another one from these three schools.Florida 15-8 The Gators are playing better and if they can get a marquee win they could get in.Mississippi State 14-8 The Bulldogs are going to have to get on a significant roll.Texas A&M 15-8 The Aggies are in big trouble.C-USA- Here is another league that is strong this year but more than likely will receive only one bid unless UAB doesn’t win the tournament.UAB 18-5La Tech 17-6North Texas 16-4OVC- This league will definitely get only one bid as long as Murray State wins the conference tournament. But they are going to be hard to keep out if they keep rolling up wins and get beat in the conference tournament.Murray State 22-2Belmont 19-5 MAC- Ohio and Toledo both are making a case for tournament bids. –Ohio 19-3Toledo 18-5
