Rocket Picks 🚀: Keeneland and Oaklawn Park for April 22, 2023

Let’s get another big Saturday of racing kicked off today! We are changing things up with the Rockets, focusing more on Pick 3 and Pick 5 plays, and not Pick 4’s. With that being said, this article will now focus on Pick 3’s with larger base wagers. Today, we will look at the late Pick 3 from Keeneland. Race 8: Elkhorn Stakes (G2)

#2 Value Engineering is a rare horse that has improved since moving from the Chad Brown barn. His best effort will be tough in this spot today. #3 Rising Empire might have a pace advantage over this group, which plays a big factor over this track, especially at this distance. We will also include #7 Howe Street on the ticket.

Race 9: Ben Ali Stakes (G3)

We’ll go with a single in this leg with #4 Skippylongstocking for Saffie Joseph, Jr. In races similar to this he has been tough to beat, with his only bad race in the last three efforts coming against much tougher horses. If he shows up with his best race he is better than the rest of the group.

Race 10: Allowance

#2 Smokin’ Jay looks for two straight wins at this level after a sharp score sprinting on the turf last time out at Gulfstream Park. #3 Beer Can Man gets class relief today in this spot; however, will be making his first start in over year, which is a question mark. We will also use #6 Nobals and #1 Ice Chocolat on our ticket.
