Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Saratoga Picks for August 11, 2021

It’s time for a brand new week at Saratoga, and Ricky’s Rockets🚀 is here to kick it off! Last week was fantastic, highlighted by Knicks Go winning the Whitney Stakes (G1). This week has a lot to live up to, and it all starts on Wednesday.

Saratoga August 11, 2021

Race 7: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the inner turf

#2 Magisterium finished third at this level last time out at 10/1. That race proved she’s good enough to compete with these types of runners. #10 Jordan’s Leo makes her debut on the turf, something that probably should’ve happened already. Her pedigree suggests she should’ve been on the grass a while ago.

Race 8: $45,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#4 Trinni Luck was extremely tough last time out, drawing away from the field right away. If she can get the lead again, she’s going to be tough to catch. #6 Honey Money made easy work of her Allowance field at the end of July. This would be her third race at Saratoga in less than a month, if she were to compete.

Race 9: Mahony Stakes for 3-year-olds going 5 1/2 furlongs on the Melon turf

#1 Into the Sunrise has been on a roll recently, winning his last two races for Wesley Ward. Let’s see what happens as he breaks from the rail. #7 Momos has shown a lot of talent on the dirt, but his turf races have been questionable at best. If he can get the lead, he can be tough to beat and Manny Franco has been aboard in 4/6 career races.

Race 10: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#4 Clever Fellow should win this race by as many lengths as he wants to, given how close he was to winning Maiden Special Weight races. He’s going to be an extremely short price. #8 Ghostmon has been extremely close at this level, and looks second best on paper.
