Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Keeneland Picks for October 13, 2021

Ricky’s Rockets 🚀 was here for all Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re In races at Keeneland this past weekend! With all of those races out of the way, the countdown to the Breeders’ Cup in early November is on. We kick off a new week of racing with an 8-race card in Lexington, Kentucky on a Wednesday afternoon, highlighted by the JPMorgan Jessamine Stakes (G2). Let’s get the week going, and cash in on Wednesday’s FREE Pick 4 as well!

Keeneland October 13, 2021

Race 5: $50,000 Beaten Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#5 Beer Chaser takes a big step forward after breaking his maiden at Prairie Meadows last time out. He will do his best to take this group gate-to-wire, but that will be a tough task. #6 One Fast Cat is supposed to win this race, given his class. We haven’t seen him run since May, but he’s been good enough to compete against much tougher.

Race 6: Allowance for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the turf

#5 Empress Eleanor is as consistent as they come, finishing in the money in 5/7 of her starts. James Graham picks up the mount for the fifth straight race. #10 Sun Summers will look to make her Keeneland debut a winning one, as she searches for her first win in 2021. She’s been running pretty well this year, even though her form doesn’t back that up.

Race 7: $100,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Upstriker and #1A Kinetic Sky come into this race to form a pretty formidable dup. This race might as well be a stakes race, and having two entries isn’t a bad spot to be in. #5 Swiftsure makes his return to the races, for the first time since the Lexington Stakes (G3) back in April. He was undefeated prior to his poor performance over a sloppy track.

Race 8: JPMorgan Chase Jessamine Stakes (G2) for 2-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the turf

#3 Turnerloose is one of three scheduled runners that has more than one win on her resume. She also has plenty of experience going two turns on the turf, whether it be at Ellis or Kentucky Downs. #10 Misthaven makes her debut against winners, after rolling at Kentucky Downs. She will get the services of Tyler Gaffalione in her second career start.
