Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Keeneland, Oaklawn Park and Santa Anita Park Picks for April 2, 2021

Ricky’s Rockets🚀 started off the week/month strong at Gulfstream Park and Oaklawn Park cashing tickets (Pick 5 for over $600), but the big news is the introduction of Keeneland! Keeneland has a fantastic three week meet, and we will be covering it the entire time! Friday afternoon is one of many great days to come from Lexington, Kentucky!

Oaklawn Park April 2, 2021

Race 7: Starter Allowance for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the dirt

#3 Descente came into her last race as a 2/5 favorite, and a winner of four straight races, but she failed to run one of her better races. It looks to be a blip on the radar of a horse who’s been fantastic dating back to last September. #4 Rahway finished second in the same race Descente was in on March 11. Her form isn’t nearly as good, but she’s clearly one of the main speed horses.

Race 8: Starter Allowance for 4-year-olds and upward going 5 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#5 Reason to Soar has finished first or second in six straight races dating back to last summer. He’s been a favorite in the majority of those races, but continues to pick up checks each month regardless of the circumstances. #11 Flat Lucky has made close to 1/3 of his career starts here in Arkansas. In 12 races here, he does have a couple of wins, including two starts back. If there’s any moisture in the track, we may see the best of him.

Race 9: Starter Allowance for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Cherished hasn’t looked quite the same since she’s left Steve Asmussen. Robertino Diodoro has only had one start with her, but it was easily her worst race in quite some time. Let’s see if she can get back to her best efforts. #2 Raintree Starlet will look to prove her last race wasn’t a fluke. Between these two runners, Robertino Diodoro is in a promising spot.

Race 10: Maiden Special Weight for Arkansas-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#5 Big On Broadway has to be the top choice considered how she ran on debut. She was visually impressive circling five-wide around the far turn and looked strong. She can run the same race and still win in this spot. #11 Arkansas Bling really doesn’t have any excuses for her last race. In the race to kick off her 2021 campaign, she looked strong enough to win.
