Keeneland April 10, 2021

Race 8: Giant’s Causeway Stakes for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf

#3 Elle Z has absolutely dominated the Fair Grounds as of late winning on the dirt and the turf, and doing it in style. She’s proven she can run with anyone, and in her lone race at Keeneland, she won at 47/1 gate-to-wire. #10 Jakarta finished third in the Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes (G3) last October over this turf course. She’s looking for her first win of the year.

Race 9: Stonestreet Lexington Stakes (G3) for 3-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the dirt

#6 Hockey Dad attempted to stay undefeated in 2021, but fell just short in the Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3) last month. This is a short turnaround, but he needs the points to make the Kentucky Derby (G1) gate. #7 Proxy has enough points to get into the gate, for now. If things don’t break his way, he can find himself on the outside looking in with a poor performance. He should at least rack up a few points.

Race 10: Coolmore Jenny Wiley Stakes (G1) for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the turf

#1 Micheline will be happy to know she gets Luis Saez back aboard who rode her to victory in her 2021 debut at Tampa Bay Downs last month. The Hillsborough Stakes (G2) is nothing to write home about, but it was an impressive effort nonetheless. If #3 Juliet Foxtrot runs her best race, she’s going to win. The layoff is a question mark, but she’s easily the most talented runner in the race. She finished third in this race last year as well.

Race 11: Maiden Special Weight for 3-year-olds going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#3 Six Pack ran one of the better debuts when comparing him to the rest of the field, and did well enough to maintain some early speed throughout. He was thrown around the ring a bit getting bumped and having been forced to go four/five-wide. #11 Harvard also ran an impressive debut down at Gulfstream Park. Tyler Gaffalione picks up the mount for the second straight race as he attempts to get this colt to the winners circle going 7 furlongs.
