Ricky’s Rockets ?: Indiana Grand and Saratoga Picks for August 12, 2020

This past weekend was one of the best in the sport, but we transition to a new race week at the SPA. Wednesday’s feature is the Adirondack Stakes (G2) for 2-year-old fillies going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt.

Best of luck!

Race 7: Maiden Special Weight for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the inner turf

#4 Mundacious did better when he tried on the turf going long for the first time. He has a right to improve for Jeremiah Englehart. #7 Scuttlebuzz gets back to the turf after his last race was taken off due to weather. He figures to run his best race in his fifth career start. In a wide open race, #11 Microsecond tries the turf for the first time. She has showed speed in the past and it’s hard to picture him going off at 6/1 at post-time as Todd Pletcher is in command for  the Repole Stable. #12 Sandro the Great did much better when facing New York-bred competition. Joel Rosario will need to work out a trip as Sandro the Great likes to come from off of the pace.

Race 8: Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the dirt

#3 Liveyourbeastlife hasn’t been less than double-digit odds since his debut. He won that race by over four lengths, and immediately jumped into the Nashua Stakes (G3), losing to Independence Hall. He makes his Saratoga debut for Jorge Abreu who has his runners looking great at the meet. #4 Lil Commissioner takes a massive step up in class after dominating at the $20,000 Claiming level. #7 Candy Tycoon disappointed in the Peter Pan Stakes (G3) last time out. He finished second to Rushie at a similar level two starts back at Oaklawn Park. #8 Singapore Trader isn’t good enough to beat this group on paper. However, Horacio DePaz’s runners have finished in the money in 8/9 starts. Singapore Trader figures to be on the lead in a race with zero early speed.

Race 9: Adirondack Stakes (G2) for 2-year-old fillies going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Make Mischief was thrown into the deep end of the pool in the Schuylerville Stakes (G3) last time out. She now has that experience to lean on in her second stakes race. #4 Thoughtfully ran away from the filed in her debut for Steve Asmussen. Asmussen will look to do better with his touted 2-year-old filly in this stakes race as opposed to Cazadero who was the colt to beat in the Saratoga Special (G2) last Friday. #5 Lucifers Lair broke her maiden earlier at the meet for Todd Pletcher on July 19. This will be a massive task for her, but Pletcher wouldn’t have her running if he didn’t think he was ready.

Race 10: $25,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#4 Mebs Web will float up in price for an ice cold Nick Zito barn. At a price, I’m willing to give her another shot. #6 Deeply Analytical made one start last year for Chad Brown. She makes her first start this year in Jorge Abreu’s barn for the Klaravich Stables who used to be one of Chad Brown’s long time assistants. #10 Love Me Tomorrow has tried this level on multiple occasions. If Deeply Analytical weren’t to show up, she makes the most sense.
