Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Gulfstream Park, Oaklawn Park and Santa Anita Park Picks for March 27, 2021

THE TIME HAS COME! Ricky’s Rockets🚀 are here to attack Gulfstream Park’s mandatory payout day on Saturday afternoon! It’s also one of the biggest days of the year, due to the running of the Florida Derby (G1). Will Greatest Honour continue his 2021 campaign in style, or will someone else have something to say about it? We’ve notoriously done well on the biggest days of the year when the pools are at it’s largest. DO YOU WANT TO MAKE MONEY OR NOT?

Also included below: my 14-race preview of Gulfstream Park, 11-race preview of Oaklawn Park and 9-race preview of Santa Anita.

Best of luck!

Gulfstream Park March 27, 2021

Race 11: Cutler Bay Stakes for 3-year-olds going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the turf

#2 Fighting Force has been the closest to taking down #6 Annex in this race. I don’t believe this race starts and ends with Annex, but it does going through him. Fighting Force is guaranteed to get a better trip than Annex will, but will his talent hold up? Corey Lanerie has never been aboard this colt, but he’s more than capable of winning this race on the front end. Annex is definitely the horse that everyone will try to beat. He was 22 lengths off the lead out of the gate, but he was more than good enough to get up in the Palm Beach Stakes. He can’t afford to start that slowly again.

Race 12: Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2) for 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the dirt

#1 Con Lima has burst on the scene as as a turf runner, but Todd Pletcher gets her back to the dirt for the first time since September. Irad Ortiz Jr. has been aboard in her wins including her most recent race on the turf last time out. #3 Crazy Beautiful hasn’t won a race sine last years edition of the Debutante Stakes at Ellis Park. She will have plenty of speed to attack as they make their way around the far turn.

Race 13: Orchid Stakes (G3) for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 1 3/8 miles (11 furlongs) on the turf

This 11 furlong race will be challenging for everyone, but #7 Delta’s Kingdom is bred to go this long.. She finished third at this distance in the Long Island Stakes (G3) at the end of 2020 at Aqueduct. #9 Always Shopping has never gone this distance, but she’s gone further than this before. She has been dominant as of late, and beat Delta’s Kingdom last time out over this turf course.

Race 14: Curlin Florida Derby (G1) for 3-year-olds going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the dirt

#7 Greatest Honour has turned things around in 2021 after winning only one race in 2020. Shug McGaughey is known for getting his runners to progress as they get older, but he may have done his best work here. Jose Ortiz will have his Kentucky Derby (G1) mount if he wins here. #9 Collaborate tries stakes competition for the first time in his career after winning her only race by 12 1/2 lengths. I’m interested in seeing how he does in his biggest test of his young career.
