Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Gulfstream Park, Oaklawn Park and Santa Anita Park Picks for March 26, 2021

Ricky’s Rockets🚀 got off to another flying start cashing some tickets from Gulfstream Park and Oaklawn Park on Thursday afternoon. We enter Friday afternoon just a short time away from the Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream Park. With arguably one of the best Triple Crown prep races on tap, we are dialed into a massive weekend of racing. Let’s take advantage of the massive pools we will see and cash some tickets in the process!

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Gulfstream Park, 9-race preview of Oaklawn Park and 8-race preview of Santa Anita.

Best of luck!

Gulfstream Park March 26, 2021

Race 7: Maiden Special Weight for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the turf

#2 Baseline Drive started her career here at Gulfstream Park last summer, but she has yet to find her first win after 9 months or so. She has a chance to win here, but this may be a play on Chad Brown and Javier Castellano alone. #8 Mint Edition looks like the horse to beat given what we saw in her debut. She finished second at this level and a great ability to close ground late.

Race 8: $20,000-$16,000 Claiming for 3-year-old fillies going 5 furlongs on the turf

#1 Missing Link won at this level last time out by 4 lengths, winning with ease. There’s no reason to think she can’t replicate that effort given this field. She’s beaten about half of this field in the past, meaning bettors can trust her come post time. #8 She’s Classy is an interesting proposition given the fact she’s never run on the turf. We do know she possesses speed, which should play well in this type of race.

Race 9: $50,000 Starter Optional Claiming for 3-year-old fillies going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Patty H finished second at this level last time out, continuing her great run at Gulfstream Park. In two races in Florida she’s finished first and second. There’s no one in this race that can keep her from getting the lead based on what we’ve seen from the rest of the field. #5 Briella is the other runner that has shown speed in the past, but she has a tendency to falter late if forced to duel early on. Kelly Breen takes over for Michael Yates for the first time.

Race 10: $35,000-$30,000 Maiden Claiming for 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the turf

#5 Iris the Empress wasn’t much better in her second start, but she definitely improved a substantial amount. She will be making her second start of the year, after taking many months off after her debut. #8 Irazu ran her best race with Paco Lopez aboard last time out. Lopez must’ve figured something out with her last race, and got me on board as she looks to break her maiden in her 10th start.
