Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Gulfstream Park, Oaklawn Park and Santa Anita Park Picks for March 21, 2021

It was an extremely successful Louisiana Derby (G2) day at the Fair Grounds for Ricky’s Rockets🚀! We were able to cash Pick 4 and Pick 5 tickets from Gulfstream, Oaklawn and the Fair Grounds. The highlight of our day was the late Pick 5 from Oaklawn bringing home $5,121.85! It hits home a little bit more, when we are able to cash tickets on the biggest day of the year. Luckily for us, we have another opportunity to make some money on Sunday afternoon and close out the week on a high note.

Also included below: my 11-race preview of Gulfstream Park, 10-race preview of Oaklawn Park and 9-race preview of Santa Anita Park.

Best of luck!

Gulfstream Park March 21, 2021

Race 8: $20,000-$16,000 Claiming for 4-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the turf

#4 Zipalong may get the perfect setup in this race, if the speed attacks each other early on. There’s a decent amount of early speed signed on, which makes the closers popular choices. #12 Aficionado hasn’t really been all that close in the majority of his races against winners, except two starts back here at Gulfstream. He should do better as he drops in for a tag.

Race 9: $6,250 Claiming for 4-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#1 Tons of Gold comes into this race with two wins in 27 races, but has managed to finish second or third twelve times as well. Being consistent in this race is good enough for me to put him on top, in an absolutely terrible field. #7 Purecrazidude is my favorite type of horse. He doesn’t win a lot, but he always has some good value regarding his odds, and consistently runs well. Today might just be his day.

Race 10: $25,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 5 furlongs on the turf

#1 Lexintonia has been away from the track for a very very long time. Let’s try multiple years, for the mare by Malibu Moon. She had a fantastic start to her career winning at Saratoga on debut, but everything was put to a halt in the Miss Woodford Stakes. This is the perfect spot for her return. #2 Unaquoi won in this exact spot last summer at Colonial Downs. This race is pretty identical to what she ran in on that day.

Race 11: $16,000 Maiden Claiming for 4-year-olds and upward going about 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf

#4 Gun of Glory is 0/12 in his career, but has shown speed on multiple occasions in the past. This is the type of horse that’ll always take my money for that fact alone. Paco Lopez chooses to get back aboard for the second straight race. #11 Mr Matuschek takes another drop in class, after running at the $35,000 level last time out. The best thing going for him, he’s only run 8 times in his career.
