Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Fair Grounds, Gulfstream Park, Oaklawn Park and Santa Anita Park Picks for March 20, 2021

Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Fair Grounds, Gulfstream Park, Oaklawn Park and Santa Anita Park Picks for March 20, 2021

It’s Louisiana Derby (G2) at the Fair Grounds! Ricky’s Rockets🚀 has done well on the biggest race days of the year, which means we are in line for a massive Saturday afternoon! There’s no feeling like cashing a big Pick 5/6 on a Saturday afternoon with the size of the pools we think they can reach. The action doesn’t stop at the Fair Grounds however. We are live from Gulfstream Park, Oaklawn Park and Santa Anita Park as well on one of the biggest days of the year!

Also included below: my 14-race preview of the Fair Grounds, 12-race preview of Gulfstream Park, 11-race preview of Oaklawn Park and 9-race preview of Santa Anita Park.

Best of luck!

Gulfstream Park March 20, 2021

Race 9: $25,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 4-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the turf

#1 Tulfarris looked good in his United States debut, after starting his career in England. Given how well he ran in his lone start here, there looks to be a ton of upside and room for improvement. #3 Sambacer has won both of his races that he’s had the lead into the first turn. Corey Lanerie will do his best to get the lead and go as long as he can.

Race 10: Hurricane Bertie Stakes for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#4 Pacific Gale on paper is the class of the field by quite a large margin. She hadn’t won a race in 2020, but she erased all doubt in the Inside Info Stakes (G2) in he lone race this year. On her best day, she’s going to beat this group by a couple of lengths. #5 Cory Gal shouldn’t be taken lightly given how good she’s been in her last four races. She’s moved up in class in every start, and has passed every test with flying colors.

Race 11: Texas Glitter Stakes for 3-year-olds going 5 furlongs on the turf

#3 Field Day has never finished worse than second at this distance, and is undefeated over the Gulfstream Park turf. He will try to take his talents to the Texas Glitter Stakes, the first stakes race of his career. He is one of many who will want to win on the lead. #6 Nitro Time is another runner who is extremely quick out of the gate, and has yet to be tested at the stakes level. I’m not sure there’s much of a difference between these two colts, and this is a race where a lot of coverage is needed.

Race 12: $16,000 Claiming for 4-year-olds and upward going about 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf

#6 Golden Decision has to be included in this race given how he ran last time out at this level. Peter Walder must be encouraged given the way his seven year old has looked this year in two starts. Paco Lopez has done a great job with him dating back to last December. #7 My Point Exactly is looking for his first win since last September, when he ran in a conditioned Claiming event. He should sit the perfect trip with a chance to pass the leaders late down the stretch.
