Ricky’s Rockets ?: Gulfstream Park and Saratoga Picks for July 30, 2020

Things are finally getting going after sweeping Lone Star Park yesterday! I was able to bring home the Pick 6, two Pick 5’s and two Pick 4’s all right here for FREE! We are back at Saratoga for a 10-race program, where the Thursday feature is the John Morrissey Handicap for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt.

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Gulfstream Park.

Best of luck!

Race 7: Starter Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#5 My Man Flintstone has been competitive in all of his starts, but has failed to hold on. Tyler Gaffalione picks up the mount as Kenny McPeek makes his debut as a trainer at the meet. #8 Mister Bobby is the main competition for My Man Flintstone. He’s run consistently at this level but finds a group he can win at. His lone win came at Saratoga last summer at the $40,000 Maiden Claiming level going 7 furlongs on a muddy track.

Race 8: $40,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#3 Short Pour returned in fine form in her first start start in 2020. She has every right to be better as a 4-year-old after failing at this level as a 3-year-old. #6 Myhartbelongstodady moves from the Chad Brown barn to the Jorge Abreu barn after a good end to her 2019 campaign, which lasted only one start. She’s lightly raced but when she does run, she’s the best horse in the field.

Race 9: John Morrissey Handicap for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#4 Amundson will look to be the first one out of the gate and go gate to wire. This distance isn’t his preferred but he there isn’t a ton of speed signed on in this spot. Jose Ortiz riding back is a vote of confidence for bettors. #5 Bankit has faced the likes of Tom’s d’Etat and Endorsed in his last few starts. He needs a quick pace to close into and should get it from Amundson right next to him. #6 Funny Guy beat the highly-regarded Mr. Buff in the Commentator Stakes at Belmont Park in his lone start in 2020. He will be tough to beat as he looks to make it two in a row.

Race 10: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 5 1/2 furlongs on the outer turf

#3 Boom Boom Kaboom tries the maiden claiming ranks for George Weaver for the first time. Weaver is winning at 67% in the last 365 days when his runners make this move. #4 Tempesta faced state-bred competition for the first time last time out and just missed out by a neck. At 5 1/2 furlongs he should fare much better as he looks to be on the lead. #14 Adios Amigos draws into this spot and immediately becomes one of the top competitors and has done well at this level in his most recent start.
