Ricky’s Rockets ?: Gulfstream Park and Saratoga Picks for July 23, 2020

What a day we had yesterday at Lone Star Park. 8/9 top choices hit the winners’ circle highlighted by a $3 Pick 4 that turned in over a $250 profit and it was all right here for free! We’re back for another 10-race Saratoga card highlighted by the New York Stallion Stakes Series (NYSSS) Statue of Liberty for 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf.

Also included below is a 10-race preview of Gulfstream Park.

Best of luck!

Race 7: $40k Optional Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#3 Fierce Lady makes her first start in Rudy Rodriguez’s barn as she drops in class. She has performed well at Saratoga in the past, with a win and a second in 2 starts. #10 Bertranda’s finished in the money in 26 of 50 lifetime starts and always puts forth a quality effort. #11 Quality Stones is undefeated in her career and her maiden victory came against two next-out winners. #13 Cartwheel has races in her past that make her competitive in this spot. It’s vital for Jose Lezcano to use her early speed and get her to the front end.

Race 8: Maiden Special Weight for 3-year-olds and upward going 5 1/2 furlongs on the outer turf

#1 Modesto a first-time starter for Wesley Ward, comes from Uncle Mo, who gets over 14% debut, first-time turf, and overall turf winners. #4 French Reef cuts back in distance from 8 furlongs, a move that should help the speedy Chad Brown trainee dramatically. #9 Its a Wrap looked much better when he switched to turf last time out and will try to close into a field with a ton of speed.

Race 9: $80k Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#3 Admiral Lynch was close to winning at this level last time out at Churchill Downs and has earned four straight 92+ Beyer speed figures. #4 Honest Mischief has run well recently and just faced a buzzsaw named Volatile (one of the best sprinters in the country) while making his first start in six months. #5 Mihos was up against Code of Honor and Endorsed on a sloppy track in the Westchester Stakes (G3). He should enjoy getting back to this level.

Race 10: $16k Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#3 Deputy Flag gets back to his preferred surface while dropping significantly from the $40k level. #6 Continuum takes a similar class drop after a disappointing effort last time out. #11 Financialstability makes his debut at the claiming level and may be hoping for a clean surface after failing to close on sloppy tracks in his last 3 starts.
