Ricky’s Rockets ?: Gulfstream Park and Saratoga Picks for August 6, 2020

Yesterday was one of the best days Ricky’s Rockets ever had! We cashed both Pick 4’s, both Pick 5’s and the Empire 6 to bring home $2,741.25 profit! It was one of those days and I have every intention of continuing that momentum once again! We are back with a 9-race card, highlighted by the NYSSS Cab Calloway for 3-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the outer turf.

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Gulfstream Park!

Best of luck!

Race 6: $16,000 Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Gesture makes her way north to Saratoga after running in Florida all year. She is the filly to beat after finishing second at Gulfstream Park in a similar spot last time out. #4 Wicked Title makes her first start for Linda Rice after getting claimed last time out. Rice does a great job of getting runners to improve off of the claim, winning at a 24% rate.

Race 7: $62,500 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 3/8 miles (11 furlongs) on the inner turf

#3 Dyna Passer has established that she can run all day long and fits this level perfectly. #4 Hungry Kitten won her last start by open lengths while going 10 furlongs on the turf and should have no problem with the extra furlong. #6 Eliade fell victim to a slow pace last time out but has handled this distance in the past and should continue to improve as she gets more ground to cover. #8 Mighty Scarlett performed well in 3 starts at Churchill Downs and Keeneland this year, improving each time.

Race 8: NYSSS Cab Calloway for 3-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the outer turf

#1 Fresco took a major step forward to break her maiden in the NYSSS Statue of Liberty two weeks ago while going this distance on the inner course. #4 Turbo Drive looks to make it 2 in a row after his come-from-behind effort at the state-bred allowance level. #5 Dream Bigger has done well sprinting on dirt against state-bred stakes competition and has plenty of speed for his first time routing and trying turf. #6 Jolting Joe makes his New York debut after running second in all 4 starts against open company. He’s still a maiden, but he looks plenty talented.

Race 9: $40,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the inner turf

#5 Elusive Ruler makes his first start in the claiming ranks, and if he has any talent whatsoever, he should beat this field with relative ease. If he doesn’t, then look out for #6 Catorat, who was competitive at this level last time out on July 5. He should be better in his second start off the layoff for trainer David Donk. #10 Swordsman makes his first start for Christophe Clement, his first start as a gelding, and his first start since February 9, 2019. This is a tough task off the bench, but if anyone can get him going, it’s Clement and jockey Joel Rosario, who won 11 of their first 27 mounts together at the meet.
