Handicapping Ricky’s Rockets ?: Gulfstream Park and Saratoga Picks for August 13, 2020 August 12, 2020 Handicapping Ricky’s Rockets ?: Gulfstream Park and Saratoga Picks for August 13, 2020 August 12, 2020 By: Ricky Pasternak email Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article We’re back at Saratoga with another 10-race card highlighted by the Union Avenue Handicap for New York-bred fillies and mares. Also included below: my 9-race preview of Gulfstream Park! Best of luck! ( Content Continues Below Ad ) Race 7: Maiden Special Weight for New York-bred 2-year-olds going 5 1/2 furlongs on the outer turf #2 Thin White Duke tried the turf for the first time and took positively to it for Philip Gleaves who co-owns and trains the 2-year-old son of Dominus. #10 Chulainn makes his first start for trainer Graham Motion, who doesn’t have the stats to back it up, but his runners have looked solid through the part of the meet. Race 8: Starter Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf #1 Quiet Out East makes his first start in Bruce Brown’s barn. Joel Rosario choosing to ride, must make Quiet Out East a player in this race. #3 Mandate will look to make it two in a row after drawing away from the field at almost 8/1. Todd Pletcher is making the case his barn has looked the best early on at the meet. Race 9: Union Avenue Handicap for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt #1 Ratajkowski may ultimately want longer as the year progresses, but her talent is inevitable. She started running at 5 years old, but she looks better than ever. #6 Newly Minted is looking for her first win since 2019 for Linda Rice. Jose Lezcano will need to use her early to establish position in the backstretch. Race 10: Maiden Special Weight for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the inner turf #7 Chocolate Cookie is a 3-year-old by Declaration of War for Todd Pletcher. She is bred for the turf, and none of the runners with experience stand out on paper. #10 Data Analytics may be in the perfect storm for Chad Brown. He goes from dirt to turf where Brown is winning at 24% in the last 365 days.
